22° 10.44' N 75° 42.5' W 06 Feb 2024 13:57 None None None Arrived in Raggeds a couple of days ago after a lovely overnite sail from Long Island no sea stars but spectacular celestial stars😃. We are currently experiencing. ‘Blow’ aka ‘winter storm’ for the Bahamas. It is pretty far reaching and heavy winds. We’ve had a lot 30 knots plus and gusts. We have out 120 ft of chain and a good anchor set in sand. We dove on the anchor several times in the calm weather. It is amazingly beautiful here. We feel like we are in an atoll. No waves or surge. Pretty nice. Some rain, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, good cruiser friends sharing their lobsters;) and many white sand beaches to explore. Duncan town is our closest civilization. Love it here. We will stay a couple weeks or more. I will try to take time out from gawking and basketmaking to post😎❤️
23° 21.54' N 75° 8.25' W 31 Jan 2024 23:38 None None None Crossed the Tropic of Cancer today. Headed even more south. We are in Thompson bay Long Island. A huge bay somewhat like Provincetown in Massachusetts. We left Lee stocking a few days ago to provision, do laundry and get water in Georgetown. Lots of wind and people. We are still having lots of wind but it is quieter here. Our trip here featured sea stars long our journey which we viewed at 15 ft depths. Pretty amazing. We plan to make our way to the Jumentos. Stay tuned……
23° 30.3' N 75° 45.84' W 16 Jan 2024 19:48 None None None Just left ‘Shangri La’ (aka Georgetown). We provisioned, got fuel, and water. We went out to eat and then we went dancing at Eddie’s with the RakeNShake band. Ever see someone play a saw? Foot stomping fun! But we were ready to leave. Too many boats and new moorings, and new rules. AND the wind was right for a lovely sail back up the sound to Lee Stocking(our Shangri La). Jeff played with his sails and wind vane and another magical day in the Bahamas was had. Ps. While there we experienced a rocket launch from cape canaveral. It appeared as a huge shooting star and stayed visible for about 15 minutes as it orbited from west to east over the Atlantic. Amazing!
23° 46.29' N 76° 6.29' W 08 Jan 2024 13:34 None None None Goodmorning! Meriwether has been on the move. We left Cambridge Friday, out the cut to the sound ,and enjoyed a glorious sail to Staniel Cay. We refueled, bought some provisions and headed to Blackpoint for the evening. On that short passage we had wind on the nose and a the anti siphon valve malfunction. . Oops! No fun. Bail bail bail for 2 miles! Safely arrived, fixed problem, and went to shore to have a lovely meal at Lorraine’s new restaurant. The next day we did laundry got coconut bread and had pizza with more newly arrived friends. On Sunday we (and a mess of cruiser friends) exited the notorious Dothan cut with no incident, and had a smooth motor sail to Lee Stocking Island. There are nine boats (we know them all)safely anchored (and playing bocce of course;) awaiting the big front approaching. Love this spot and this gang of boats! All is well on Meriwether! Hope all is well with our good friends playing in the snow:)!
24° 18.19' N 76° 32.41' W 02 Jan 2024 23:02 None None None Meriwether and sea Spirit ventured further south to Cambridge Cay in the exuma land and sea park. We have met up with Cookie Monster(who is doing a short ambassador stint here) and are officially part of the wagon train now! We have played bocce, gone for an island hike and snorkeling is on the agenda for tomorrow. Oh, and the captain had a fun day sailing with our new main and monitor wind vane and NO engine as we made our way here. All is well on Meriwether❤️
