I tossed over dock lines and then proceeded to run to the bow and dive overboard. I'M HOME!!!! WWWWAAAHHHHOOOO!!!! After over 7 years Solstice has finally completed the last part of her circumnavigation and is home in King Harbor. This will be the last update on Keelscape until my next adventure. Time to start working on the book and get that finished. I cannot begin to describe the welcome home from all my friends here. The party was epic and raged until the wee hours of the morning like a good party should. There was so much love in the air. It is so great to be home. Arrrrrrrr!!!! | 33° 50.692' N | 118° 23.898' W | 30 Jun 2018 16:30 | None | 4.0 | 315 | Entering the Harbor. YYYYAAAHHHOOO!!! The Harbor Patrol turned on their lights and escorted us in while the Fireboat sent up a water arch to welcome us home. Hokule'a was at a mooring and fired a cannon blast as we sailed by. Solstice returned the welcome with her own cannon blast. All flags flying. Emotions running are beyond words. | 33° 50.472' N | 118° 23.67' W | 30 Jun 2018 16:00 | None | 6.5 | 32 | Passing R10 - a buoy I've passed often but haven't in over 7 years from when I left in 2011. The Wyland Wall is a beautiful sight and marks the feeling that we're almost home. | 33° 46.86' N | 118° 26.354' W | 30 Jun 2018 13:00 | None | 6.3 | 7 | Fired off a cannon blast while leaving Two Harbors - Main is up but reluctant to sail with the jib as it may interfere with all the flags flying from the top of the mast to the bowsprit. Beautiful day. | 33° 27.722' N | 118° 29.434' W | 30 Jun 2018 12:45 | None | 6.0 | 12 | After 7 years and 3 months Solstice is sailing back to her home port in King Harbor. All her flags are flying from every country she has been to as well as her Solstice flag, an Earth flag and Blackbeard's flag as well as her Homeward Bound pennant which is flying from the top of the mast. Super excited as many friends are waiting in Redondo to welcome Solstice and me home. Hook up @ 1245. |
